Coming from Splitwise?

Bring your groups over from a Splitwise export. Then split receipts line by line, and see what you actually spent, not just who owes whom.

Trezzit is free. No bank login needed.

What the import brings over

Export a group from Splitwise as a CSV file, then open it in Trezzit.

  • Every expense in the file, with its Splitwise date, description, category and cost, who paid, and each person’s exact share.
  • Every settle-up, as a payment between the same two people.
  • The people. You match each name in the file to yourself, to someone already in the group, to a new person who can join later with a link, or to someone you already know on Trezzit, who gets an email invite.
  • Categories such as groceries, dining out, rent and utilities map to Trezzit’s own. The rest come in without one.
  • A check. Before anything is saved, every person’s balance is compared with the Total balance row of your export, to the cent. If any is off, nothing is imported.

In the app, go to Groups, start a new group and choose Import a CSV under “Coming from Splitwise?”. You can also import into a group that has no expenses yet. You review every step before anything is written.

Limits, honestly

One group per file, in one currency, with up to 1,000 transactions over at most 3 years and up to 50 people. Files can be up to 2 MB, and one import can invite up to 20 people by email. An export has no items, receipt photos or comments, so each old expense arrives as one line.

Splitting by item, not by total

A split by total answers who owes whom. A split by item also says what each person spent, and on what.

Scan the receipt and each line becomes its own item. Tap who had it. Hand towels for the apartment go four ways; Maya’s oat milk is Maya’s. Tax and tip follow in proportion, and the shares add up to the receipt exactly.

Your part lands in your own spending, by category, next to the things you bought alone. Your bank shows you paid $100.00; Trezzit shows you spent $30.00: $22.00 of groceries and $8.00 of household things.

Questions

Can I import my Splitwise groups?

Yes, one group per CSV export. Trezzit brings over the expenses, settle-ups and people, and checks every balance against your export before saving anything.

Will my balances match Splitwise?

They have to. Every person’s balance is compared with the Total balance row of your export, to the cent. If any differs, nothing is imported and you see which ones.

Do my friends need Trezzit too?

No. Add them as people who can join later with a link, or invite someone you already know on Trezzit by email. For a single bill, a share link works for anyone, no account needed.

Does Trezzit connect to my bank?

No. There is no bank login, and Trezzit never moves money. It records what you spent; settling up happens however you already pay each other.

Is Trezzit free?

Yes. There is no paid plan.
